Trading Standards have a responsibility to ensure the food you are supplied with meets UK food standards. This can include ensuring retailers don’t sell consumers out of date food or food lacking the appropriate labelling. We work closely with businesses to help raise awareness of the various Regulations around the sale of food. Trading Standards have produced a toolkit for bakers, sweet makers and confectionary makers that provides guidance bespoke to their business type.

The labelling of allergens, both on products and at catering establishments continues to be a high priority area as there is a significant risk to health where this isn’t managed sufficiently by a business.
